If black mirror was supposed to be a seriea about a generic robot apocalypse it would be good but i don t want black mirror to be a generic tech bad horror. In addition a lot of the technology from the whole show was made by the same company. If all of the episodes are connected then this one is very likely at the very end of the timeline for the real world and non cookie society. As i was watching metalhead i could not figure out the purpose of the dogs and where they came from. The smithereens ending is fittingly bleak for black mirror but especially resonant in today s culture. Then after watching black museum it is pointed out that all of the episodes of black mirror happened during the same time period in the same universe. That being said metalhead is my favourite episode because it s a thriller a familiar genre.

For context i recently started watching black mirror and accidentally watched season 4 first thinking it was season 1. The humans are going to get something important from the warehouse. Definitely one of the worst episodes of imho. The reveal at the end is about the contrast between human emotion and feeling and the unfeeling unreasonable nature of the machine.

Unless 15 million merits is a safe haven people live in or just a prison that powers some san junipero servers underground it s a bleak ending that is 100 man vs. Metalhead s lack of context totally stripped that away. I think the black and white drives home that its a machine world now. Story and ending explained we ve already mentioned the effect of the black and white filter enhancing the grim post apocalyptic thematic setting of metalhead s world.

I wasn t invested in the characters because it was just them trying to survive some weaponized robots for most the episode and the ending just didn t feel. You may be left wondering who got shot at the end of the episode and what happened next. So i wasn t aware of black mirror s story telling style. It s a post apocalyptic tale told mostly from one person s perspective.

In the big twist of white. Now it was directed well with a good writing although some plotholes. Once you start trying to guess how things are connected this episode is a bit too easy to figure out for viewers.
